Pat and Courtney met while both living in Philadelphia in early 2016. Two years later while at his grandparents’ house in Cape May, Pat surprised Courtney with a proposal! They celebrated with champagne on the beach followed by more festivities with family and friends over the weekend. This couple can be found either in Avalon or Cape May almost every weekend of the summer, so it was very fitting, but also surprising to many that they chose not to have a shore wedding!
For me it's always special being asked to photograph such a milestone as a wedding. But when I know the family, it feels even more important. Although I didn't know Pat's family before this day, they were equally welcoming to me. I first met the Scardellettes when Courtney was playing tennis in high school along side of our daughter. As parents, we stood along the fence and in perfect tennis etiquette cheered on our kids. We became fast friends and have remained so. We still gather to share a meal or a boat ride and talk about our children's lives.
Courtney and Pat were truly radiant on their wedding day. Matteo and I had a great time with the wedding party and family, capturing moments to be remembered. The schedule of the day was put into perfect motion by a great bunch of professionals below, and planned meticulously by a very organized and always smiling MOB and Bride. Take an extra look at the photo of the embroidered handkerchief. It represents names and dates of weddings of a very special "in group" of people, of which I have seen several times before in front of my cameras.
Best wishes to the newlyweds, and thank you for the honor of choosing us to capture your day.
